Roving Garden Parade

Tompkins Square Park to East Village Community Gardens, NYC

the proposed scenario is simple: a bunch of us meet up at a community
garden, march around, sing songs, play tamborines, drum drumbs, say hi to the
torres’, dance, dress like tomatoes, vegetables, throw seeds, march with kids, listen to the
gospel choir, and go to an end garden for a party afterward for a neighborhood BBQ.

Time’s Up!, More Gardens!, the Rude Mechanical Orchestra(!), the Hungry March Band, Reverend Billy and his Church of Stop Shopping Choir, and a spastic ensemble of stilt-walkers, clowns, kazoo bands, and god knows what else will be frolicking their way through the East Village to raise awareness of gardens that are endangered by evil developers, to celebrate the life of Jane Jacobs, and to support the landmarking of P.S. 64, home of the CHARAS Community Center.  Come join us!
