NYC Halloween Parade

West Village, Manhattan

We did our best to look stunning, also dead. Then we were trapped next to a float of lip-synching zombies for over an hour, with no room to even move our arms for playing. Somehow we stayed fabulous, escaped the zombies, and did the “f-u” finger sign to while at the judges stand…..not at the judges (it goes with the lyrics).

the Hook, in Red Hook

RMO had a great reception at this all-ages (as it should be) show. Frenzy! What did we play, like 3 sets? The World Inferno Friendship Society, a 9-piece soul/punk band, self-described as “disturbingly cult-like, circus-related, Halloween-tent-revival orchestra”, do more than completely rule. Their fans fed us and each other with homemade peanut brittle and cakes.

Time’s Up! Space, SoHo, NYCCelebrating 3 great things at once: a not-for-profit direct-action environmental group, the bike ride that will take over the world, and fabulous disguises. We donned numerous mustaches, one pair of wings, and one noose. Even Lambchop the puppet was a fan.

As the Rude Mechanical Drum Corps, (a dancer, horn players, Bani and Kristian were all on percussion), the RMO improvised background music for the marcher’s chants. At the end of the march, speakers talked about loved ones who’d been killed by police brutality.

Hurricane Katrina Benefit Show @ the Union Pool

Another benefit for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Some of us, not all of us, marched over from McCarren park, playing a 20-minute version of a song we had just written, err . . . learned: St. James Infirmary.
